Abstract
This event documents the October 21, 2017, dedication ceremony for the Nicholas Smith Recreational Area at Gin Creek, located on the south side of the Harding University campus behind the Ganus Activities Complex. Funded by Richard and Amy Smith and developed from a July 2017 Student Association service project led by SA President Dakota Ellis, the outdoor space features fire pits, picnic tables, charcoal grills, and 11 hammock posts. The facility serves as a memorial to Nicholas A. Smith, a Harding youth and family ministry major who died in a March 2015 automobile accident while traveling to a mission trip in Utica, New York. The ceremony featured remarks by President Dr. Bruce McLarty, Dakota Ellis, Trey Smith, and the Smith family.
