Abstract

Audio documentary titled “Artist Spotlight: Louis Armstrong,” written, produced, and narrated by Dutch Hoggatt for broadcast on KVHU 95.3.

The documentary examines the life and music of American trumpeter and vocalist Louis Armstrong. Armstrong was born in New Orleans in 1901. He died in New York City in 1971 at age 69. Armstrong — nicknamed “Satchmo,” “Satch,” and “Pops” — is among the most influential figures in jazz. He posthumously received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1972.

The audio documentary won Best of Show in the 2021 Broadcast Education Association On-Location Faculty Audio Competition.
