Abstract

Audio documentary titled “Artist Spotlight: Patsy Cline,” written, produced, and narrated by Dutch Hoggatt for broadcast on KVHU 95.3. The documentary examines the life and music of American singer Patsy Cline. Cline was born Virginia Patterson Hensley in Winchester, Virginia in 1932. She died in a plane crash in 1963 at age 30. Cline is considered one of the most influential vocalists of the 20th Century. She was one of the first country music artists to cross over into pop. Cline was posthumously inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1973, and received the Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 1995.

The audio documentary won Best of Festival and Best of Competition in the 2022 Broadcast Education Association National Faculty Audio Competition.
