Abstract
This essay discusses the relationship of poet Rita Dove to the Black Arts movement. Comparison between Dove and her literary foremother Audre Lorde; Significance of the second stanza of the poem "Power," by Lorde, to the similarities between Dove and Lorde; Information on Dove's historical and political consciousness, antithetical to the theoretical bases of political movements.
