Abstract
Audio documentary titled “Artist Spotlight: Rosetta Tharpe,” written, produced, and narrated by Dutch Hoggatt for broadcast on KVHU 95.3. The documentary examines the life and music of American singer, songwriter, and guitarist Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Tharpe was born in 1915 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas and died in 1973 in Philadelphia. Tharpe is best known for her gospel music and electric guitar playing. She has been called “the original soul sister” and “the Godmother of rock and roll.” Tharpe was posthumously inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2018.
