Abstract

Tessa Davidson was selected to the Juried Artist Registry for the Arkansas Committee of National Museum of Women in the Arts for the 2023-2025 Artist Registry. As stated on the website (acnmwa.org), "The biennial Juried Artist Registry features work by Arkansas artists who identify as women, selected by an arts professional serving as juror. Artists’ images, artist statements and website links are featured online for a two-year period. This Registry offers a contemporary look at a range of work and serves as a public resource to connect artists, curators, and collectors, and encourages the creation, exhibition, and promotion of artwork by Arkansas women artists."

Comments

Tessa Davidson offered the following comment on her work: "My work is a blend of contemporary and traditional media including performance, video, sound and representational oil painting. I am inspired by historic forms of the human figure, particularly when the figure is integrated into sacred and contemplative spaces. Symbolic gestures, objects and approaches of Medieval and Renaissance devotional art heavily influence my approach. My paintings, performances and videos are infused with poetic elements to provide space for reflection. By echoing historic themes in contemporary veils, I aim to highlight humanity’s ongoing existential quest for hope, meaning and belief" (https://acnmwa.org/artists-23-25/tessa-davidson).
