Endō's Silence is a thrilling and soul-searching story about a young Christian in the early 1600s who sailed halfway around the world to infiltrate the locked-down island nation of Japan during one of the fiercest persecutions in history. Facing capture, torture, or death, he goes in solidarity with the Japanese Christians in hiding, in hopes of learning the truth about his own mentor who may have turned traitor to the Church, and in fear and trembling at the hidden weakness of his own faith.
