Francine Rivers was a gifted romance novelist before she became a Christian. When she gave her life to Christ, she also committed herself to using her gifts to glorify him and began writing novels that bring the reader into very challenging situations. These fiction works let the reader walk with the characters through the decisions they make as they struggle with what it means to follow God in these situations. Redeeming Love was her first novel after her new commitment, and it has become a classic. This book's powerful portrayal of the story of Hosea, set in the 1800's, gave me a new perspective on the biblical story as well as certain people in our society, and it helped me have more compassion and grace toward people that are trapped in certain situations. If you read it, you will be changed.
